Job Description

The Special Programs Administrator ensures the success of Special Programs through informed oversight, placement activities, effective program design and measurement, and an emphasis on creating student and family engagement while also acting as a resource to teachers and administrators.
• Oversees Special Programs; Helps identify students who will participate in the program through coordination and evaluation of testing; Completes intake process for referrals and identified applicants; Develops enrichment activities for the core subjects that coincide with K12 curriculum; Monitors success of program through surveying parents and other techniques;
• Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education, 504, Title and ELL programs;
• Supports and engages learners’ families by responding to their concerns in a timely manner, through regular communication as it relates to program implementation;
• Supports and engages students through proactive, timely and responsive communications; Connects them to statewide/community resources;
• Maintains regular office hours and schedules appointments as needed to assist students and parents with additional concerns/questions;
• Supports and assists administrators and faculty by helping regular education teachers write goals and activities; Gathers and provides data to administrators; Designs and implements related policies, processes and procedures (with the approval of Head of School and/or Board of Trustees);
• Attends conferences/workshops regarding ELL updates recommended and approved by Manager of Federal Programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 2-4 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Requirements MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Education Leadership, Administration or related area of study AND
• Five (5) years of teaching experience OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State Administrative credential

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills – written, verbal, presentation
• Project management experience
• Experience with designing, creating and instituting sampling and auditing practices
• Experience using a student management database
• Professional experience using MS Excel, Word, Outlook
• Ability to pass required background check


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Three (3) years of experience in Special Education, Title or ELL
• Experience in online instruction and/or teaching in charter schools
